REVERSE911 System in Osage County

Osage County will start using a new REVERSE911 system starting July 1, 2009. This system sends messages much quicker and has resolved many of the issues we experienced with our previous system. Our REVERSE 911 system provides fast and reliable emergency notification services for our county. Residents can expect prerecorded messages during emergency situations such as hazardous weather, natural disasters, crisis notifications or any other extreme public safety incident. This system is voice activated so all that’s required for you to hear the message is to simply say hello and wait for the message. It will always play three times (unless you hang up the phone before it ends) and will always be from 573-897-0911.

If you wish to be taken off the list, please fill out the rapid notify removal waiver (click here for waiver) and mail it back to EOC. Keep in mind, this document only waives weather related events, watches and warnings. Osage County may still send out emergency notifications regarding Callaway Nuclear Plant incidents, AMBER Alerts/missing persons, Bagnell Dam incidents, emergency shelter locations and other emergency information. Several people have numerous phone numbers on our list. If you’d like to have the extra phone numbers removed from the list, for example, fax lines or computer lines, please fill out the waiver and mail back to our office. Again, keep in mind, the system will attempt to redial your phone number two times. If your phone line is busy or you fail to answer the call (unless you have an answering machine), you will not receive the notification message. It may be beneficial to have more than one line available to receive these calls.
